This material, like the previous one, was prepared with the assistance of a professional car selection consultant for orders from Germany, Denis Rem.
Having made a preliminary choice, we found a suitable model, agreed with the seller on its purchase, and now we need to personally go for our car, for example, to Germany.
The first thing to do is to get a Schengen visa. If you already have a Schengen visa, you can take care of accommodation in the city where your chosen car is located. It is better to book a hotel room in advance, as it will be cheaper and more reliable. On the day of arrival, it will be quite difficult to re-register the car in your name, as government institutions usually work only a few hours (before or after lunch).
Before processing the documents, do not forget to conduct a thorough inspection of the chosen car. For the purchase itself, you will only need a foreign passport; even a driver's license is not required for this. When drawing up the purchase and sale agreement (kaufvertrag), be sure to check that the seller has correctly indicated all the details and data about the car (chassis numbers, etc.), so as not to accidentally buy a stolen car.

In the contract, the seller must state that the car is not damaged and that the odometer reading corresponds to the original. Also, you need to make sure in advance that the car has passed the technical inspection (TUV), otherwise you will have to undergo the inspection yourself, which means additional costs (about 100 euros) and time.
For independent processing and verification of all documents, you will need a very good knowledge of the German language; even fluent English will not help in this situation. If your German level is not high, it is better to contact one of the companies that provide services for selecting and processing cars for our compatriots.

To deregister the car and re-register it in your name, you go with the seller to the local "MREO" (verkehrsamt). After deregistration, you need to take out an insurance policy, without which you will not be issued new license plates, and then undergo a check of the car's VIN numbers. Only after this will the re-registration procedure be completed.
After completing the car purchase process, you will still have to undergo customs clearance in Germany, travel home, and "customs clearance" at the border or already in Ukraine, but we will tell you about this in our next material.
