Let us clarify right away: a number of Chinese brands assemble their cars at Ukrainian plants. However, they cannot be considered domestic, so we based our analysis on the country of origin of the brand. The exception is MG. This brand is historically British, but now it belongs to the Chinese, who produce cars under this name.

Where Chinese cars are most loved

According to the results of 2013, based on new car registration statistics, cars of Chinese brands were most often bought in the Donetsk region. Second place went to Kyiv, and the top three was closed by the Dnipropetrovsk region.

But in the Khmelnytskyi, Volyn, Chernivtsi, Rivne, and Ternopil regions, Chinese cars are almost exclusive. There, demand is so low that over the entire year, all brands from China combined sold about a hundred cars.

Breakdown by brand

The leader among Chinese brands in Ukraine in 2013 was Geely, which took the main share of the market among its "compatriots."

FAW
FAW, popular in its homeland but not yet well known in Ukraine, sold the most cars in Crimea in 2013. This is logical: it is on the peninsula that the head office of the brand's official representative is located.

What in the end

Almost all Chinese brands managed to show positive sales dynamics in 2013 — we wrote about this in the material about the best-selling cars in Ukraine. This means that the price-to-equipment ratio attracts our compatriots. First of all, this concerns Kyiv residents and residents of the eastern regions. But in the west of the country, selling cars from China is, in fact, almost pointless — demand there is too low. Although who knows how time will turn.
