Question from YanKiev:
Roundabout formed by the intersection of Kurbas and Kartvelishvili streets (Borshchahivka, "Kolibris").
Is it allowed to make a left turn on this circle if the car is driving in the far right lane? What do the traffic rules say about this?
Answer from Karat driving school experts:
1. In the described situation, such a maneuver is permissible.
2. According to clause 10.4 of the traffic rules, the driver is obliged to change lanes in advance to the extreme position in the lane corresponding to the direction of his movement before turning right, left, or making a U-turn. The exception is when the turn is made when entering an intersection with roundabout traffic, and the trajectory is set by signs, markings, or the road configuration that leaves no choice.
3. You can enter and exit the circle from any lane if there are no signs or markings before the intersection prescribing a different order of movement.
4. At the same time, the driver should remember: vehicles moving in the left lane may simultaneously turn right, and such a lane change can create an emergency situation.
5. Before entering such an intersection, you need to turn on the left turn signal, and when leaving it, the right one.
Summary:
The maneuver can be performed, but for safety, you should choose the right lane before approaching the intersection. Directly on the circle, all actions must be accompanied by appropriate turn signals.
