The volume of car imports is growing not only in quantity but also in value. The total customs value of imported cars reached $3.7 billion, a quarter more than last year. This dynamic indicates that Ukrainians are increasingly choosing fresher and more expensive cars.

Germany, as before, ranks first among exporting countries — 56.9 thousand cars. It is from there that the largest number of used cars traditionally comes, valued for the balance of reliability and moderate price. The second place is held by the USA with 45.9 thousand units: American cars are being actively imported again after the resumption of supplies. In third place is China with 27.1 thousand cars, whose presence in the market is rapidly strengthening. In just two years, the volume of supplies from China has tripled.

Among other significant suppliers are Japan, South Korea, France, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Mexico, and Slovakia.

Ranking of the main countries importing passenger cars to Ukraine for the first eight months of 2025:

  1. Germany — 56,939 units.

  2. USA — 45,977 units.

  3. China — 27,142 units.

  4. Japan — 23,247 units.

  5. South Korea — 16,712 units.

  6. France — 16,396 units.

  7. Czech Republic — 12,951 units.

  8. Great Britain — 11,699 units.

  9. Mexico — 10,500 units.

  10. Slovakia — 6,341 units.

Experts note that demand is gradually shifting towards Asian manufacturers, especially Chinese electric cars and hybrids, which are increasingly confidently competing with European brands. Supplies from Japan and South Korea remain stable — these brands are still chosen for their reliable crossovers and sedans.

If the current dynamics hold, next year China could take second place in the volume of passenger car imports to Ukraine.
