The Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs together with cyber police remind: information from any website or file received via messenger is not confirmation of data authenticity. Moreover, information about arrests, liens, or other restrictions is not published in open databases at all. Therefore, a buyer can be left without money and without a car.
Typical fraud schemes
– a car is offered at a price significantly lower than the market price;
– they show "documents" that allegedly have already passed all necessary checks;
– they provide links to fake government portals;
– they send PDF extracts with signatures and seals that look solid but have no legal weight.
How to check a car safely
The only verified option is to contact the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. There you can:
– obtain official data from state registers;
– verify the VIN code and numbers of main units;
– confirm that the car has no arrests, liens, or credit obligations;
– order an expert examination of the vehicle and documents;
– arrange re-registration to a new owner in an official manner.
What to pay attention to
Real government websites always have the domain "gov.ua", and official social media pages are marked with a blue checkmark. If you are sent links without such signs or are persuaded to make an advance payment supposedly to reserve the car, you are dealing with fraudsters.
