Over the past year, European Union states purchased Russian energy carriers — oil and gas — for €21.9 billion, which is only one percent less than in 2023. For comparison: the EU's financial support to Ukraine over the same period amounted to €18.7 billion, as calculated by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Russia's total revenue from energy exports abroad during this time amounted to €242 billion — this is 3% lower than the previous year's figure. Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the aggressor country's export earnings from oil and gas have totaled over €847 billion.

The main buyers of Russian energy carriers in 2024, as before, are China (€78 billion), India (€49 billion), and Turkey (€34 billion). At the same time, India and Turkey increased their purchase volumes — by 8% and 6%, respectively.
