The publication AUTO-Consulting decided to find out whether a shortage of components has already appeared at Ukrainian service stations, because the same semiconductor microchips are widely used, for example, in touch screens, digital instrument panels, and car control units.

The press service of the company "AVT Bavaria Ukraine" stated that manufacturers' capacities are usually distributed both for the production of new cars and, in sufficient volume, for the support and maintenance of already sold cars on the market. Including warranty replacements. However, in conditions of an acute shortage of certain components, their limited quantity may first of all be distributed where the problem is most acute. Including, periodically, to the assembly line. Accordingly, that part of the components that could serve as a reserve for the needs of after-sales service may also decrease. At the same time, for service customers, the manufacturer has a system of so-called tickets. Therefore, priority spare parts are distributed where the priority of problems is higher. But this also does not mean that the service is stocked with components that are in acute shortage on the assembly line.

The service director of the company "Stellantis Ukraine" Alexander Lich noted that there are interruptions in the supply of components that contain microchips and semiconductors. And it is impossible to stock up on these components. According to the policy of the Stellantis Group, they are supplied only to order. Due to the shortage on the market, delivery time has increased from 8-12 days to 15-20. But the situation is under control. Unfortunately, these components do not have budget analogues, for example, in the Eurorepar line. Although there are factory-remanufactured components that are slightly cheaper. But they are also in short supply, like similar original new spare parts. The good news is that prices for such components have not risen. In addition, car control units, displays and liquid crystal instrument panels do not fail very often. Therefore, there are no problems for customers with their replacement yet. Although the situation with the so-called chip crisis is not improving. So problems may worsen.

The press service of the company "Renault Ukraine" reported that spare parts with semiconductor microchips are mandatory for car production, but practically do not fail during its operation. Accordingly, there is no demand for them. In this regard, there is no shortage at service stations and its occurrence is not planned.

The press service of the company "Nissan Motor Ukraine" stated that at the moment there is no noticeable negative impact of the chip crisis on the supply of components with electronic components to Ukraine. All deliveries are carried out according to schedule. Including displays, digital instrument panels, on-board computers, etc. There is no shortage of these components in Ukraine. Delivery times for such car elements have not increased. Neither during the peak of the 2020 pandemic, nor now.

The press service of the company "Porsche Ukraine" explained that the logistics of spare parts "Porsche Ukraine" is based on supply chains of parts through the network of "Porsche Holding". To date, no problems with the supply of spare parts related to the shortage of semiconductors are felt here. About 99% of spare parts ordered by dealers, as before, are delivered in the minimum time, according to schedule.

In the end, it should be noted that the chip crisis has so far practically not affected the Ukrainian car service. However, the situation with the shortage of microchips in the world is not improving yet, and what will happen next - time will tell.
