Of course, there is still a vote in general, but most likely the law will be adopted and come into force in a year. To be more precise, the use of biofuel in gasoline will become mandatory from May 1, 2022.

The bioethanol content in fuel will be at least 5%. By the way, initially this figure was 7%, but it was reduced. An exception was made only for gasoline with an octane number of 98 and higher, as well as for fuel supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In case of non-compliance with the requirements of the law, fuel sellers face a fine of seven subsistence minimums for each ton of fuel. For violation of the deadlines for providing information on biofuel content up to 7 days, the fine will be 100 subsistence minimums, and over 7 days – 150 subsistence minimums.

This decision is intended to improve the environmental situation, reduce dependence on fuel imports, and also provide orders to Ukrainian enterprises in the alcohol industry. One of the authors of the bill, Andriy Gerus, especially emphasized that such bioethanol content in gasoline will not harm the car.
