As stated in the story 2 2, the team waited a full 6 years for permission to participate in the race. Achieving this was not easy: only those classic cars that took part in the Monte Carlo Rally before 1965 (the race itself has been held since 1911) can be entered for the competition. An exception was made for the Zaporozhets – in honor of the model's 60th anniversary. Now it is expected at the Monte Carlo Rally 2022, which will take place at the beginning of next year.

An important condition for participation in the race is that the car must be in completely original condition. For this, the ZAZ was completely disassembled, painted, and reassembled. The car's engine runs like clockwork.

Before the 966th sets off under its own power to the south of France (which is, mind you, 2,400 km), it will be thoroughly tested: the car will travel through almost all of Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania. In total – more than 3,000 km.

In total, three cars from Ukraine will take part in the Monte Carlo Rally. The other two are still in the preparation stage.

It should be noted that the ZAZ-966 was produced in 1966-1972. The car was equipped with a 1.2-liter 40-horsepower engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. Acceleration to 100 km/h - 32 sec, maximum speed – 120 km/h.
