Winner Imports Ukraine will be responsible for importing MG cars to Ukraine. The latter has signed a corresponding agreement with the owner of the MG brand, the Chinese company SAIC Motor.
At first, the model range will include five cars: these are the HS, ZS, EZS and Marvel R crossovers (the last two are electric), as well as the MG 5 sedan. About the Marvel R, Autoportal, by the way, told in detail last month as part of its premiere.
Before that, MG cars were sold in Ukraine in 2011-2014: then they were imported by the company AIS. Now the MG brand is represented in 60 countries around the world, and in recent years it has set its sights on Europe in particular.
SAIC Motor has owned the MG brand since 2007. Despite the fact that this is one of the oldest automotive brands in the world (founded in 1926), the past decades have been difficult times for it. The company repeatedly found itself on the verge of bankruptcy until the Chinese breathed new life into it.
As for SAIC Motor itself, it was founded in 1940. Now it is one of the largest automakers in China, which, among other things, has joint plants with General Motors and Volkswagen. In 2020, the concern sold 390 thousand cars outside its country.
