It is worth recalling that the Verkhovna Rada is considering new bills on preferential customs clearance of cars imported into Ukraine before January 31, 2020. They have already been approved by the parliamentary committee on tax and customs policy.
The documents propose the introduction of a preferential period of 180 days for "euro plates". One person will be able to clear only one car of Euro-2 standard and above. At the same time, the duty will be zeroed, and VAT will only have to be paid on the excise tax. Thus, registering a car with euro plates in Ukraine will cost approximately 1,000 euros. In Ukraine, owners of cars with European license plates are being actively fined
In January, the patrol police intensified checks on cars with European license plates. Violators are being fined, and as of February 1, almost 400 fines have already been issued.
In particular, the spokesperson of the patrol police, Yana Kutova, reported that 363 protocols were issued against owners of cars with foreign registration under Part 3 of Article 121 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (violation of vehicle driving rules, as well as rules for using seat belts and motorcycle helmets), and another 15 protocols under Part 9 of the same article.
For operating a car with euro plates in violation, a fine of 8,500 hryvnias is provided. If the violation is repeated, the amount increases to 17,000 hryvnias.
