Compared to March of last year, the number of such vehicles decreased by 61%. The reason for this sharp drop was that due to the quarantine introduced on March 16, service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs suspended the registration procedure for used cars.

Nevertheless, despite this, imported used cars still hold a leading position in the primary passenger car market. Thus, in March, out of 24.8 thousand vehicles first registered in Ukraine, only every fourth was new. As a result, the replenishment of the domestic car fleet last month was 75% provided by customs-cleared used cars.

The most popular among used models is the Volkswagen Passat. In March 2020, Ukrainians imported and managed to register 1,099 such cars.

Second place, slightly behind the leader, was taken by the Renault Megane — last month, 1,084 Meganes received Ukrainian registration.

The third result is the Skoda Octavia — 982 cars.

The fourth position went to the Volkswagen Golf — 861 cars.

The top five is rounded out by the Ford Focus with 695 registrations.

Overall, in the first quarter of 2020, Ukrainian license plates were received by 79.5 thousand imported used cars, which is almost 57% less compared to the same period last year. However, despite this, their share in the primary market reached 80%.
