As a result, used cars accounted for three quarters of the primary passenger car market, while a year ago this figure was 58 percent.
Vehicles older than ten years reached 36% of primary registrations of imported used cars. The oldest car to receive Ukrainian plates in August was a Buick Regal from 1987.
When choosing a used foreign car, Ukrainian buyers more often opted for petrol versions. Last month, such cars accounted for almost 49% of primary registrations of imported used cars. Meanwhile, the share of diesel models was 39%, cars with gas equipment — over 7%, almost 3% went to electric cars, and 2% to hybrids.
The most popular brand of the month remains Volkswagen. Almost 4,000 cars of this German company changed foreign owners to Ukrainian ones.
Skoda took second place — 2,060 used cars of this brand were imported and registered in Ukraine in August.
Third place goes to Renault, with a figure of 2,002 cars.
Ford showed the fourth result — this brand was chosen by 1,930 Ukrainians.
Opel rounds out the top five, with 1,618 Ukrainian license plates to its name.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 298.5 thousand used passenger cars have received Ukrainian registration, which is 4.8 times higher than the result for the same period in 2018.
