The decline in demand for new passenger cars is largely explained by the fact that the import of used cars has become more affordable, as well as the simplified legalization of vehicles with foreign registration. The total share of such cars in the total number of primary registrations of passenger cars by the end of last year reached 75 percent.
In January, the best dynamics among new cars was demonstrated by the Renault brand — 804 cars of this brand found their first buyers. Compared to January 2018, Renault sales in Ukraine grew by 37 percent.
The second most popular place was taken by Toyota, which registered 632 cars. The result of this brand turned out to be a third lower than a year earlier.
The third line of the rating was taken by Nissan with 427 new cars, which is 4% less than last year's figure.
KIA retained the fourth position, improving its result by a quarter and reaching the mark of 390 cars.
Skoda closes the top five with 341 cars, which is 22% less than in January 2018.
The top ten also included: Hyundai — 336 cars (+27%); Volkswagen — 273 cars (-53%); Mazda — 215 cars (-33%); Mitsubishi — 177 cars (-23%); Audi — 175 cars (-39%).
The best-selling car of the month was the Renault Duster, which accounted for 329 registrations.
