The growth in the number of primary registrations of imported used cars in Ukraine was facilitated by the adoption of legislation on the legalization of "euro plates".

According to the results of last year, 116.8 thousand imported passenger cars that were previously in use received Ukrainian registration. This is twice as much as in 2017. For comparison: sales of new cars in 2018 amounted to 81.8 thousand units, which is 0.6% less than a year earlier.

Due to the high demand for imported used cars, the total volume of the primary passenger car market grew by 43% — to 198.6 thousand cars.

Among used cars, Volkswagen became the leader in registrations. In 2018, Ukrainians registered 19,250 such imported cars, which is three times the number of new cars of this brand.

Renault took second place — 14,758 used cars. This is 1.7 times more than the number of new Renaults registered.

In third place is Škoda with a result of 10,615 used cars, which is almost twice the sales of new cars of this brand.

Ford came in fourth: 7,854 drivers chose imported second-hand cars, which is 2.5 times more than buyers of new Fords.

The top five is rounded out by Opel — 6,827 registrations of used cars. For comparison, only 209 new cars of this brand were sold during the year.
