In March 2015, 123.5 thousand tons of gasoline were sold, which is 40.7% less than in the same period of 2014. Sales of diesel fuel over the same period decreased by 41.3%. Moreover, sales volumes fell in all corners of the country.
The president of the association "Union of Operators of the Fuel Market of Ukraine" Leonid Kosyanchuk believes that the drop in sales is directly related to the devaluation of the hryvnia and the rise in fuel prices: "Sales have indeed fallen significantly: if earlier Ukrainians filled up with 'liters' and 'tanks', now they fill up for a certain amount – 200 hryvnias or 100 hryvnias, depending on who has how much," the expert believes.
It is important to note that sales of gas for cars also decreased: propane sales fell by 0.7% over the year, methane – by 28.2%. All this indicates that many Ukrainians simply began to drive personal cars less and less often.
