As reported by the First Deputy Head of the Department of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Serhiy Budnyk, the level of accidents on the roads is estimated by the number of victims per one hundred thousand residents. According to him, in Ukraine this indicator currently reaches about 12 people, while on average in Europe it does not exceed three deaths in similar accidents per one hundred thousand population.

The given figures reflect the situation for the first five months of 2014. For comparison, in 2013 about five thousand people died on the country's roads, and about 26 thousand more were injured.
