Bondarenko notes that the main streets of the capital should be given over to pedestrians and become comfortable recreation areas for citizens. He also proposes dismantling the Arch of Friendship of Peoples and building a church in its place — especially since historically a church already existed on that site.
“I would like Kyiv’s youth to have completely different opportunities for cultural leisure. I believe that the Trade Union House should also be demolished, as its condition has been declared emergency. The central part of the city should turn into a cultural space. It is important to create all necessary conditions there for the younger generation, including access to wireless internet and other modern conveniences,” the press service quotes Bondarenko as saying.
Whether these proposals will be put into practice is rather a rhetorical question: elections are ahead, and who will become the head of the city administration has not yet been determined.
