Comma One is a gadget that slightly resembles a regular dashcam, which is attached to the windshield and connected to the vehicle's onboard electronics. The system receives the main data about the surrounding environment from the built-in camera, and also uses numerous functions of modern cars: lane keeping, sign reading, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, etc. There are not many models that can easily "cooperate" with the universal autopilot yet, but the company promises to significantly expand this list.

The first car to try on the new autopilot was the Acura ILX sedan, owned by the founder of the startup Comma.ai, George Hotz. According to Hotz, the main competitor of his autonomous system is the autopilot on Tesla electric cars. Hotz emphasizes that Comma One does not relieve the driver of the need to monitor the road situation (i.e., you cannot sleep or read books), but only provides the opportunity to get from one city to another without touching the vehicle's controls.

George considers the main advantage of his autopilot to be the system's full readiness for launch on the market. In addition, the artificial intelligence of Comma One will be able to constantly improve itself by collecting statistics on driver behavior on the roads.
The autopilot should go on sale before the end of the year at a price of $999. The price will also need to add the cost of a software update subscription – $24 per month.
