Baidu's Executive Vice President Wang Jing said that the first production self-driving cars of the Chinese company will be equipped with a steering wheel, but later it will be replaced by screens. Announcing promising vehicles with autonomous control, the top manager dropped a phrase that may well become popular: "Children who are born now will never need a driver's license."

The Chinese corporation expects to launch mass production of such cars in 5 years. Baidu also plans to invest in services operating on the Uber model.

Recall that Baidu announced the development of its own self-driving car in the summer of 2014, and a year later, Chinese engineers tested the first prototype on the BMW 3GT platform. This year, tests of Chinese autonomous vehicles are planned on US roads.
