The Eclipse Cross T1 rally car is based on a space frame welded from high-strength steel tubes. The body elements are made of carbon fiber panels, and the suspension is independent, with double wishbones. Each wheel is equipped with adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers and AP Racing brake mechanisms.
Under the hood is a six-cylinder diesel unit producing 340 horsepower and 686 Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive with a mechanical center differential, supplemented by self-locking differentials on the front and rear axles.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross T1 will be piloted by Spanish racer Cristina Gutierrez, with Pablo Huete as co-driver. The Dakar 2019 marathon, whose route will stretch approximately 5,000 kilometers, starts on January 6 in Peru and ends on January 17.
