In the first half of the year, passenger car production in Russia decreased by almost 62%, amounting to 281 thousand vehicles. As for trucks, 70.4 thousand units were produced over six months, which is 18% less; at the same time, in June, 10.3 thousand such vehicles came off the assembly line — this is 40% worse than the figure for the same month in 2021.
In the spring of 2022, most Russian enterprises assembling passenger cars stopped their lines. In June, AvtoVAZ launched the production of the Lada Granta in a simplified version. However, many plants owned by foreign automakers are still not operating. By the way, at one of such enterprises, where BMWs were previously assembled, employees were offered to take up potato growing.
