The local Rosgosstrakh reports that the number of such crimes has more than doubled. Attackers steal all parts that can be quickly removed — wiper blades, headlights, rear-view mirrors. The largest number of such incidents is recorded in the capital, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, and Tatarstan.
According to Russian media, body elements and components are most often removed from inexpensive and popular cars Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen. At the same time, premium-class cars suffer no less — everything that can be dismantled is taken from them.
The increase in thefts of parts is explained by the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation, the halt of car factories, and the general rise in prices for everything related to cars.
