The C-NCAP testing methodology is largely similar to the European Euro NCAP standards. The tests are organized by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
It is worth recalling that the FAW X40 also underwent an unusual test — a drop from a helicopter, after which it demonstrated excellent results in all parameters and earned the status of a "Safe Car." This crossover became the first in China to set a record in this safety category.
When developing the model, engineers relied on the experience of leading global automakers. The car is equipped with many active and passive safety systems, as well as a reinforced body.
The high level of safety of FAW cars is ensured by "3H" bodies, which use high-strength steel. The multi-channel energy distribution system allows kinetic impact energy to be evenly dissipated throughout the body, preventing local deformations and protecting passengers.
The body structure is designed to minimize consequences in frontal, side, rear collisions, and rollovers. Various engineering approaches were used for this:
- the proportion of high-strength steel in the structure is increased;
- the front part, roof, pillars, and floor are reinforced with additional strong elements;
- deformation zones are provided throughout the body to absorb impact energy (reinforced bumper and door beams, strengthened sills, etc.);
- the hood is designed so that in a frontal collision it bends and does not press into the cabin;
- laser welding technologies are used.
The FAW X40 is equipped with an independent front suspension with McPherson struts and a semi-independent rear torsion beam. This provides good stability, smooth ride, and confident handling. The model also received disc brakes on all wheels and electric power steering.
In addition, the crossover is equipped with a number of options and safety systems: ABS, EBD, TPMS, electric power steering, two front airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners and height adjustment. There is a warning for unfastened seat belts for the driver and passenger. The parking assistance system includes a rear parking sensor with four sensors.
Under the hood is an economical and reliable 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine paired with a manual transmission and a start-stop system. The engine develops 109 hp at 5500 rpm, maximum torque is 155 Nm at 3600 rpm.
The reliability of the car is backed by a factory warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first. An additional confirmation of the model's quality is the fact that it is built on the Volkswagen Group platform, with which FAW has been cooperating for several decades.
Sales of the FAW X40 in Ukraine began in January of this year at the AIS dealer network. The car can be purchased on credit, lease, or under the Trade-In* program. Free assistance is provided for owners of the new model.
We also remind you that the compact family sedan FAW B30 is available for purchase at the AIS network, which also received five safety stars in C-NCAP crash tests.
Details about FAW models and services can be found on the website https://faw.ais.ua/ or by phone 0800-500-205 (calls from landline and mobile numbers of Ukrainian operators are free). AIS is also present on social networks – YouTube, Facebook, Instagram.
