C-NCAP is a Chinese vehicle safety assessment program. The methodology for conducting crash tests under C-NCAP is largely based on Euro NCAP standards. The testing is organized by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
Sales of the FAW B30 model on the Ukrainian market began in the autumn of this year. The version with an automatic transmission is offered at a price starting from UAH 273,900.* This figure is noticeably lower than the cost of many Korean or European cars of smaller size, which are also equipped with a manual transmission and have more modest equipment.
When developing the FAW B30, engineers used the developments of leading global automakers. The model is equipped with a set of active and passive safety systems, as well as a reinforced body.
The body structure is designed to reduce the severity of consequences in frontal, side impacts, rear collisions, and rollovers. For this purpose, a number of technical solutions were applied:
- the share of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel grades has been increased;
- the front part, roof, pillars, and floor are additionally reinforced with high-strength elements;
- deformation zones are provided throughout the body, responsible for absorbing impact energy (reinforced beams in the front and rear bumpers and in all doors, reinforced sill covers, etc.);
- a hood design is used that prevents it from being pushed into the cabin during a frontal impact;
- laser welding technologies are used.
Active safety includes the ninth-generation ESP system from Bosch. According to statistics, most fatal accidents occur in side collisions. ESP significantly reduces the risk of accidents due to skidding or sliding. The operation of the Bosch ESP 9 system is ensured by four active speed sensors, a four-channel module, a separate angular velocity sensor, and an acceleration sensor. In combination with ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), TCS (traction control system), and BA (brake assist), the level of safety in difficult situations noticeably increases. In addition, the car received a Hill Hold Control (HHC) system, which prevents the car from rolling back when starting on an incline. The hydraulic brake assist (HBA) helps reduce the braking distance during emergency braking. The efficiency of the brake system is also enhanced by a vacuum compressor and a Bosch master brake cylinder, front ventilated and rear disc brakes, as well as a crash-safe brake pedal.
Standard equipment includes two front airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners and height adjustment. A warning for unfastened seat belts for the driver and front passenger is also provided.
To facilitate parking, a parking sensor with three sensors is installed, which detects obstacles in the range of 0–140 cm. In the ENJOY trim, a rear-view camera is additionally available, providing a clear image even in low-light conditions.
The FAW B30 is equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 109 hp, which works in conjunction with a Japanese AISIN automatic transmission. The car's length is 4.6 meters, placing it in the same class as models such as SKODA Octavia, TOYOTA Corolla, HYUNDAI Elantra, and VOLKSWAGEN Jetta.
Confidence in the model's reliability is supported by a factory warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km of mileage (whichever comes first). An additional confirmation of quality is the fact that the car is built on the platform of the Volkswagen Group, with which FAW has been cooperating for several decades.
