An art object created by OKKO to draw attention to the importance of using seat belts was awarded in the "Society" category.
The international competition included projects implemented in 2017-2018. Winners were determined in four categories: "Society", "Planet", "Peace", and "Economic Development". The jury, consisting of representatives of the UN Global Compact Network in Switzerland and Lebanon, as well as the office of the UN Coordinator in Ukraine, evaluated projects based on their impact on society and the level of cooperation between business and public or state organizations.
The OKKO art object is a life-size car seat assembled from 1079 seat belt buckles. It was the result of the all-Ukrainian campaign "Hand in the buckle – choose life". The project, aimed at promoting the constant use of seat belts, united the efforts of business, state structures, and the public: OKKO's partners were the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the NGO "All-Ukrainian Association of Driving Schools".
Residents of Kyiv have already been able to see the unusual sculpture, and by the end of the year it will also appear in Lviv – at the territorial service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After that, the art object will travel to other cities of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the project "I beg you, buckle up", within which the campaign "Hand in the buckle – choose life" was held, started in November 2017 with a call to use seat belts and child car seats. In total, the project's events covered more than 3.5 million Ukrainians.
