This agreement provides for cooperation between companies in the development of technologies that will be used in hydrogen-powered vehicles. During the work, the parties to the agreement will exchange licenses and valuable experience regarding the development of FCEV technologies. Such cooperation will lead to more hydrogen models being produced in the future, and their cost will be lower. The reduction in the production process cost will occur through the use of unified fuel cells.
Cooperation will begin with Hyundai transferring access to modern technologies that were used to create the power units of the NEXO and ix35 FCEV cars. Audi will also be able to use Hyundai's supply structure for components and parts. Let us recall that Audi is a division of Volkswagen AG, which is responsible for creating hydrogen cars. Hyundai's technologies will help the company develop new models much faster.

Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, Yoosun Chung, stated: "By signing this agreement, we have once again proven that one of the main goals of our company is the development of safe hydrogen cars. Such models will not only reduce the amount of harmful emissions on the streets but also significantly simplify the lives of our customers. We are confident that joint work with Audi AG will demonstrate to the whole world the importance of FCEV technologies."
Peter Mertens, a representative of Audi AG, in turn, said that hydrogen is the most promising option for the development of the safe car sector. He also stated that cooperation with Hyundai fits perfectly into their strategy of working on FCEV technologies, as this company has extensive experience in developing hydrogen cars. According to Mertens, cooperation with Hyundai will lead to a real breakthrough in this field.
Company representatives agreed to analyze the possibility of using unified standards in the creation of technologies used in hydrogen cars. In addition, the partners set themselves the goal of stimulating the development of specialized innovations, as well as accelerating the process of creating new FCEV models.

Hyundai Mobis, the basic supplier of accessories and parts, will also benefit from the cooperation of the two companies. It is this division that installed a conveyor system for manufacturing elements for hydrogen-type power units at the South Korean plant in Chungju. Every year, this plant produces 3 thousand parts (electronic components, tanks, gearboxes, motors). Cooperation with Audi will allow the plant to produce significantly more products – several tens of thousands annually.
Let us recall that Hyundai Motor is the world's first mass manufacturer of models based on FCEV technology. This title was obtained in 2013, when the ix35 FCEV car appeared on the market. Today it is sold in eighteen countries. Soon, car enthusiasts will be able to purchase another hydrogen model – NEXO. The creators used an improved power unit in it, which allows driving 800 kilometers without refueling.
Hyundai cars can be purchased on the most favorable terms using the Hyundai Finance credit program.
