The all-new Opel Insignia looks stunning and is radically different from its predecessor. The car is styled as a large sports coupe, but thanks to the modern platform, the interior has become noticeably more spacious. As befits a flagship, maximum attention is paid to safety. Everything in the new model is thought out to the smallest detail: from seats with many adjustments and the possibility of installing versions certified according to the AGR standard (which Opel is especially proud of), to premium-level finishing materials. At the same time, despite the fact that there is more legroom for rear passengers, the Grand Sport offers a trunk volume of 490 liters, which can be expanded to 1450 liters if the rear row of seats is folded.
The second-generation model is memorable for its expressive body lines, cozy interior, and a large set of modern technological options.
Stylish matrix LED headlights Opel IntelliLux LED® matrix headlights with high beam function without dazzling oncoming drivers:
- automatically “cut out” the zone around cars ahead or oncoming, while continuing to brightly illuminate the road at a distance of up to 400 meters;
- do not blind other road users;
- make night trips safer and less tiring;
- the cornering light sections do not leave “blind spots” on sharp bends. The function is active at speeds from 40 to 70 km/h¹.
¹IntelliLux LED® Matrix headlights — an option for Dynamic, Innovation, and Country Tourer versions. When the system is activated, the high beam automatically turns on at speeds above 50 km/h and goes out when the speed drops below 35 km/h.

Follow Assist is an autonomous system that monitors the distance to the vehicle ahead, helps avoid collisions, and allows the driver to relax: the system itself brakes or accelerates, maintaining the set distance.
The Head-up Display projects key indicators onto the windshield so that the driver does not have to be distracted from the road. The screen displays: speed, turn direction, or danger warnings.
The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system warns of approaching vehicles when reversing out of a parking spot or driveway. What used to remain a hidden threat is now under control.
The list of driver assistants is continued by Opel safety technologies:
- Automatic Emergency Braking system with Pedestrian detection function;
- Side Blind Zone Alert blind spot monitoring;
- modern Active Lane Keep Assist, preventing accidental lane departure;
- Keyless Open & Start keyless access — the ability to open the car and start/stop the engine with a button. Even the base Insignia trim is equipped with such a system.
The impressive list of safety measures is completed by an active hood designed for better pedestrian protection in a collision.
In the body structure of the new Opel Insignia, the share of high-strength steel and aluminum has increased, which made it possible to reduce the body weight by 60 kg. Overall, engineers managed to reduce the curb weight of the car by 175 kg. The aluminum hood is not only lighter but also better absorbs impact, and is also equipped with a special mechanism that raises it when hitting a pedestrian.
All engines are four-cylinder turbocharged. The petrol 1.5 (140 or 165 hp), turbodiesels 1.6 (110 or 136 hp) and 2.0 (170 hp) are available with both a manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic. The new 8-speed automatic is intended for powerful diesel versions 2.0 Turbo (170 hp) and 2.0 BiTurbo (210 hp), as well as the petrol Insignia 2.0 Turbo (260 hp).
The new flagship is the first Opel model available with an 8-speed automatic transmission, FlexRide adaptive suspension, and a “smart” all-wheel drive system that can transfer torque to one or both rear wheels independently of each other, providing vector torque distribution across the entire operating range.
In combination with highly efficient new turbo engines and reduced weight, the New Insignia gives the driver a feeling of complete fusion with the car, maximum dynamics, and a more “live” driving experience.
In addition to all the technical innovations, the presence of the latest safety systems (in the latest Euro NCAP ratings, the Insignia Grand Sport and Insignia Sports Tourer received the maximum five stars) and spectacular appearance, the new Insignia impresses with flexibility, increased capacity, and an excellent price-quality ratio, which makes it a serious competitor even for premium brands.
