The SsangYong Rexton W Prestige will be offered with a two-liter 155-horsepower turbodiesel, a time-tested 6-speed automatic transmission manufactured under a Mercedes-Benz license, and a 4WD Part-Time all-wheel-drive system.
Prestige is a special trim of SsangYong Rexton W vehicles, produced in a limited quantity specifically for the Ukrainian market with a full set of traditional SUV options and a number of premium ones.
The Rexton W of the current generation is the last SsangYong model that has a frame construction. The new generation of large-class SUVs from SsangYong Motor is planned to be built on a unibody platform. As is known, frame-based vehicles have a number of advantages.
The use of a frame in vehicle design is the prerogative of manufacturers of full-fledged real off-road vehicles, pickups, and some premium-class passenger car models.
A powerful ladder frame isolates the body from impact, torsional, and tensile loads that occur when driving off-road, towing a heavy trailer, or when pulling out a stuck vehicle. This increases the overall durability of the vehicle and, especially, the body and chassis. Also, a frame-based vehicle has a slightly lower tendency to roll over than a unibody one.
Frame-based vehicles have a higher seating position and good visibility, better sound insulation and vibration suppression, since the cabin with passengers is isolated from the frame using rubber pads. As a result, passengers in a frame-based vehicle experience greater comfort than in other vehicles.
