According to the results of December 2016, Hyundai's global sales reached 496,907 vehicles. This is 3.7% less than the result of December 2015. In South Korea itself, 72,161 cars were sold in the last month of the year, while abroad, brand dealers handed over 424,746 units to customers. Compared to November 2016, global sales grew by 5.3%. At the same time, in the domestic market, growth compared to the previous month was 27.4%, and in external markets — 2.3%.

In total for the entire 2016, Hyundai Motor sold 4,860,049 cars worldwide. This is 2.1% less than a year earlier. In South Korea, from January to December, the company sold 658,642 cars, and in export markets — 4,201,407 units. The brand's bestseller at the end of the year was the Elantra model, which sold 875,194 units. Among SUVs, the Tucson was in greatest demand — 735,388 cars sold.

Hyundai Motor also noted positive dynamics in a number of key markets. In the USA, 386,503 cars were sold during the year, which is 1.6% higher than in 2015. The Chinese market grew by 7.5% — here sales reached 1,142,016 cars. The Czech Republic (+4.7%) and India (+2.9%) also showed growth compared to 2015. But in Russia and Brazil, sales fell — by 9.6% and 7.4%, respectively, which is explained by weak market conditions.

In the Ukrainian market, according to the calculations of the analytical agency "Autoconsulting", 3,366 Hyundai cars were sold in 2016. This is 24.76% more than in 2015. The brand's market share reached 5.22%. The most popular model in Ukraine was the Tucson crossover — 1,140 units sold. Another brand SUV, the Santa Fe, topped the D-SUV segment with a result of 651 cars.

The company's plans for 2017 include strengthening its position in global markets through the launch of new competitive models, expansion of production capacities, and flexible pricing policy. In addition, Hyundai Motor announced a target sales volume for the current year — 5,080,000 cars.
