The recall covers cars sold in the United States and South Korea. While the Sedona minivan is not officially represented on the Ukrainian market, the Hyundai Tucson crossover is already available to customers.
As reported by the South Korean company, the hood latch of the Tucson model has design flaws that do not guarantee proper reliability. As a result, the hood can spontaneously open right while driving.
The KIA Sedona has a different problem: the hood latch is prone to rust, which weakens its holding capacity even when the lock is closed, ultimately leading to the sudden opening of the hood while driving.

In the United States, the service campaign will cover 81 thousand Tucson vehicles, while in South Korea, 62 thousand such cars will be recalled. These vehicles came off the assembly line between May 19, 2015, and March 14, 2016. For the Kia Sedona, the number of recalled units is 220 thousand, produced from June 15, 2005, to April 4, 2014.
