Renault Sport has published a teaser on social media hinting at the imminent debut of a new model. Details about the upcoming novelty are still kept secret.
Most likely, the announcement concerns a "hot" version of the Twingo city car. Unlike its predecessor, such a modification will probably get the GT prefix rather than RS. Under the hood, it will feature a three-cylinder 0.9-liter engine producing 109 horsepower.
The same unit is installed in the most powerful versions of compact Smart models, which are refined by the Brabus tuning house. The Smart and the third-generation Renault Twingo are based on a common platform developed in partnership between Renault and the Daimler concern. These cars share more than 70% of common parts.
Earlier, the sports division presented an experimental version of the Clio hot hatch — the RS16 model. It was equipped with a 275-horsepower engine, front suspension from the track version of the Megane, rear suspension from the rally Clio, as well as adjustable shock absorbers and reinforced brakes. Perhaps such a car will still go on sale, but in a limited edition.
