When the Japanese manufacturer announced the start of sales of cars with a hybrid powertrain, many viewed such an initiative with distrust. As a result, in the first year of production of the Coaster Hybrid EV minibus and the first-generation Prius, Toyota managed to sell only 300 such cars. But every month the demand for hybrids steadily increased, and along with it, the model range of such cars expanded.

Over the 19 years since the start of production of hybrid cars, Toyota has brought their number to 33 models, which are now available in almost 90 countries. The steady growth of customer interest is evidenced by the fact that in just the first four months of this year, the Japanese auto giant managed to sell almost half a million hybrids.

Among Toyota's hybrid models, the Prius remains the undisputed leader in popularity. In our country, this car is known primarily because it is used as a patrol car. It is worth adding that last year Toyota introduced the fourth-generation Prius, which recently gained the ability to recharge from a regular household outlet.
