As reported by one of AvtoVAZ's executives, Sergey Ilyinsky, the company is studying various powertrain options to attract new customers both in the domestic market and in European countries.

According to available information, the new engine will have a displacement of 1.4 liters and will be able to meet the requirements of Euro-5 and Euro-6 environmental standards. Its output is expected to range from 140 to 149 horsepower.

The first car to be equipped with a turbocharged engine should be the Lada Vesta. It is possible that the development of the unit will be carried out jointly with specialists from the Renault-Nissan alliance.
