The only thing that will still allow domestic designers to sleep is the fruit of the joint efforts of specialists from Renault and Daimler. So very soon we can expect the appearance of a platform sibling of the Smart Forfour.
The layout with a rear-mounted power unit and rear-wheel drive made it possible to significantly increase the front wheels' turning angle. Now the Twingo can turn around in a spot of 8.65 m, which is about a meter less than its competitors.
At the same time, the Twingo is 10 cm shorter than its predecessor, and the interior space has become noticeably larger. The cabin has increased in length by 22 cm, the wheelbase has grown from 2367 mm to 2490 mm, and the height by 8 cm. The width of the car has not changed - 1.64 meters. The trunk volume is 219 liters. With the seats folded, you can load a long item up to 2.2 meters - a record in this segment.
The Twingo's interior is quite attractive and offers many compartments for small items, which, as the designers calculated, total 52 liters of volume. Options include climate control, 16-inch wheels, and R-Link multimedia with navigation and a 7-inch screen. However, the choice of colors is limited to four shades - white, yellow, blue, and red.
For the Renault Twingo, two engines are provided: a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with 70 hp and 91 Nm of torque, as well as a turbocharged unit with a displacement of 898 cc - 90 hp, 135 Nm. The transmission is a manual gearbox with 5 and 6 gears.
Prices for the Renault Twingo have not yet been announced. The start of European sales is scheduled for autumn of this year.
