According to experts, the increase in fuel prices is directly linked to the rise of the dollar. It is expected that already next week the American currency may reach 9.1–9.2 hryvnias. Despite the fact that the authorities call such expectations exaggerated and panicky, companies involved in the sale of petroleum products intend to set gasoline prices based precisely on this exchange rate.
As analysts note, if in January fuel prices were calculated based on 8.1–8.2 hryvnias per dollar, now, taking into account the expected exchange rate, the value of the currency will increase by one hryvnia.
Following this, according to experts' forecasts, wholesale fuel prices will also rise by approximately 1 hryvnia. Thus, by the end of February – beginning of March, a liter of popular A-95 gasoline may rise in price from the current average of 10.75 hryvnias to 11.75 hryvnias.
Fuel that meets European standards may already cost 12 hryvnias per liter, and diesel fuel – up to 11 hryvnias.
