Audi engineers did not design a completely new powertrain for the S3 Plus, preferring instead to refine the familiar EA888. During the modernization, a fresh cylinder head design was created, and the turbocharger received noticeably improved characteristics.
In addition, the fuel system, as well as the ignition and fuel delivery control algorithms, were also refined. Such significant changes required a substantial increase in the engine's cooling efficiency.
As a result of all the improvements, the engine's output increased by 75 hp, and peak torque reaches 500 Nm. The all-wheel drive system and the six-speed S Tronic gearbox with dual clutches help the car unleash this entire power reserve.
