British Jensen International Automotive continues testing the new Jensen Interceptor GTX. The track sports car received a supercharged V8 with 960 hp, rear-wheel drive and a racing sequential gearbox. This is reported by Auto Express.
Jensen Interceptor GTX received a 6.8-liter supercharged V8
The engine is based on a GM LT-series V8, but less than 20% of the components remain from the original design. The 6.8-liter engine received forged internal parts and motorsport components. It was developed by the American company Late Model Engines.
According to Jensen, in this configuration the unit is capable of producing up to 1200 hp and almost 1500 Nm, but for the GTX the power was limited to 960 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential Samsonas Motorsport gearbox.
The new Jensen Interceptor was created from scratch in Great Britain
The Jensen Interceptor GTX is not a restomod of the classic 1966 Interceptor. The car was designed and built in Great Britain on a new aluminum chassis. The body is made of aluminum, and the aerodynamic elements are made of carbon fiber.
The adjustable rear wing creates more than 350 kg of downforce. A front splitter, flat floor, rear diffuser, air ducts and ventilation openings are also provided. The suspension received aluminum arms and three-way adjustable Nitron dampers, while the brakes are supplied by AP Racing.
The interior features carbon sports seats, six-point harnesses, an FIA roll cage and a MoTeC display.
“The Interceptor GTX is the first physical embodiment of our vision for the future of Jensen,” said the brand’s managing director, David Duerden.
Series production of the Jensen Interceptor GTX is planned to begin no earlier than 2028. The company is also developing a road-going high-performance Interceptor GTR and a more comfortable Interceptor GT.
