As can be seen in the images, the car is styled after the latest Volkswagen models. Obviously, the author thus hinted that LAZ could produce cars for the domestic market in cooperation with the German brand. And the legendary bus name LAZ-695 would obviously give the car greater popularity.
The media outlet that distributed these renders suggests that the LAZ-695 crossover could be produced on the global MQB modular platform and get 1.0-liter turbo engines with 116, 125, and 150 hp from other Volkswagen SUVs. However, given current trends, we see it more (if anything) as an electric crossover based on the MEB chassis, with one or two motors to choose from, as well as batteries of three capacity levels – 45, 58, and 77 kWh (these are exactly the specifications in which VW ID.3 and ID.4 electric vehicles are offered. Moreover, earlier (in the summer of last year) there were already rumors that Ukraine might start producing Volkswagen electric vehicles.
True, then it was about the Transcarpathian Eurocar plant, which assembles Skoda cars.
Of course, this is nothing more than a designer concept that should not be taken seriously – if only because LAZ does not produce passenger cars. In this case, such a car would be more appropriate to "assign" to ZAZ.
It should be noted that the LAZ-695 bus was produced from 1956 to 2010. Over the years of production, it went through several generations.
