Contrary to the modern trend of turning SUVs into crossovers, Toyota took a different path – it, on the contrary, enhanced the off-road qualities of the model. And it's not just that the new LC 300 retained its body-on-frame construction: the car was additionally reinforced with "off-road components" and special electronic assistants.

In particular, in addition to the torque multiplier and two differentials – center and rear – which the 200 series also had, the new LC 300 received one more, a front differential. In other words, the new SUV is equipped with permanent all-wheel drive, which necessarily requires three differentials – two between wheels and one between axles.
Furthermore, the car received two new off-road driving modes – Auto and "Deep Snow" (within the Multi-Terrain Select package), an electronic off-road driving assistant Multi-Terrain Monitor with a 3D projection function of the space under the car's floor, as well as the Crawl Control system, which maintains a constant speed off-road.
Finally, another feature of the "three-hundredth" is the ability to ford water up to 0.7 m deep.
