The Ford Equator is 4905 mm long, 1930 mm wide, 1755 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2865 mm. That is, it will compete with cars such as Skoda Kodiaq, Mazda CX-9, Toyota Highlander and Mitsubishi Outlander.
In terms of design, the crossover is notable for its high beltline, massive hood, two-tier head optics (the parking lights are located at the level of the radiator grille, the main headlights are in the bumper), as well as narrowed rear lights that are united by a bridge. Inside, a large horizontally oriented display catches the eye – it serves simultaneously as the instrument panel and the multimedia touchscreen.
Under the hood of the Ford Equator is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost turbo engine with 224 hp. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic and front-wheel drive (the all-wheel-drive version has not yet been confirmed).
Production will be handled by the joint venture (Chinese and American) Jiangling-Ford. Sales of the new model in China will start in the first quarter of this year, but its price is not yet known.
