According to the British publication Autocar, the new Land Rover Defender will not be produced in a cargo-passenger version, as the manufacturer doubts the need for such a modification. The brand's marketers believe that the updated Defender has now taken a higher niche, and the cargo version does not correspond to the new concept of the model.
Although the Defender platform allows for the easy creation of a pickup based on it, the British are afraid that this will harm the car's reputation. The most practical solution will be an extended version with the index 130, which will be able to carry up to eight passengers.
Land Rover also plans to develop a more compact and affordable model based on the Defender, as well as a hybrid version of the SUV.
