The "Nine" is based on the extended version of the Peugeot 508 L liftback, but differs from the related model in body type, interior design, more luxurious cabin trim, and the presence of advanced electronic assistants.

The exterior of the European version of the DS 9 generally repeats the namesake business sedan for China, "exposed" five months ago. The bold crease on the hood, the chrome trim of the bumper air intakes and optics, and the "hidden" door handles a la Tesla have been preserved. Differences between versions appear only in the decor of the lights and the placement of badges.

In terms of dimensions, the "nine" is comparable to the BMW 5-Series: the sedan's length is 4933 millimeters, width is 1855 millimeters, height is 1468 millimeters, wheelbase is 2895 millimeters. The DS 9 is 83 millimeters larger than the Renault Talisman, so the three-volume PSA group model can be considered the flagship passenger car among French brands.

The DS 9 interior is almost an exact copy of the interior of the DS 7 Crossback crossover. The sedan and SUV share the steering wheel, front panel and center tunnel architecture, identical virtual "instrument cluster" and a 12-inch media system screen. The DS 9 even "inherited" the Breguet clock between the central air vents and the "toothed" design of the buttons near the transmission selector.

The options list includes adaptive LED "swivel" headlights, a special suspension with a camera that "reads" road irregularities and pre-adjusts the stiffness of the shock absorbers on each wheel individually, multi-contour leather seats with ventilation, heating, cooling and massage, second-level autopilot, the DS Safety package, which includes a night vision system with a range of up to 100 meters, a driver condition monitoring system, a blind spot monitoring system and a road sign recognition assistant.

At the start of sales, the DS 9 will be offered only with front-wheel drive and the E-Tense plug-in hybrid transmission, familiar from the Peugeot 508 sedan. The power plant consists of a 1.6 PureTech gasoline turbo engine, an 8-speed automatic, a 109-horsepower electric motor and a battery pack with a capacity of 11.9 kilowatt-hours. The total output of the system is 225 horsepower. The estimated range on electric power is from 40 to 50 kilometers.

In the future, the European range of "nines" will be replenished with a 360-horsepower all-wheel drive hybrid. In China, the DS 9 will go on sale with the only hybrid power plant with a capacity of 250 horsepower.

The public premiere of the DS 9 will take place at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Probably, at the event PSA will reveal the start date of sales of the new product and the price list for various markets.
