The debut of the electric car in China is due to the fact that the PRC will become the key market for Lexus "green" cars. At the same time, the Japanese noted that the UX 300e will also be sold both in the USA and in Europe.
The electric vehicle is based on the regular small crossover UX, which, in turn, is built on the new modular TNGA platform. It received a single electric motor with 204 hp and a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 54.3 kWh, which allow driving up to 400 kilometers on a single charge (according to the European NEDC cycle). You can replenish the battery supply using a special fast system (in 50 minutes) or from a home outlet (in 7 hours).
The weight of the car has increased to about 1900 kg, which is why engineers had to strengthen the chassis and use shock absorbers with different settings. In addition, the UX 300e uses the Active Sound Control (ASC) system, which reproduces a "pleasant and natural sound" while driving.
Lexus will develop a special mobile application for smartphones, with which the driver will be able to find out the battery charge level and range, as well as remotely control a number of climate system functions.
