The hybrid diesel version can cover up to 100 km using only electricity, while the version with a petrol engine can cover up to 43 km. The total fuel consumption of the GLE 350 de 4Matic is 1.1 liters.

The diesel hybrid Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 de 4Matic is equipped with a traction battery of 31.2 kilowatt-hours. To accommodate it, engineers had to change the layout of the rear body and redesign the rear axle. The crossover's powertrain includes a two-liter diesel engine with 194 hp and 400 Nm of torque, as well as an electric motor with 100 kW, developing 136 hp and 440 Nm. The total system power reaches 320 hp, and peak torque is 700 Nm.

Acceleration to 100 km/h for the GLE 350 de 4Matic takes 6.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 210 km/h (160 km/h when driving on electric power). According to the WLTP cycle, the hybrid travels 90–99 km without starting the internal combustion engine, and in mixed mode consumes only 1.1 liters per 100 km.

The petrol-electric version GLC 300 e 4Matic received a two-liter turbocharged "four" with 211 hp and an electric motor with 122 hp. Together they provide the same 320 hp and 700 Nm, allowing the crossover to accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The battery with a capacity of 13.5 kilowatt-hours provides an electric range of up to 43 km. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 2.2–2.5 liters.
