This model became the first plug-in hybrid car in the history of the Spanish brand. It is also the first such crossover among the budget brands of the Volkswagen Group, not counting premium brands.

Under the hood of the Seat Tarraco PHEV is a powertrain built on the basis of a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 150 horsepower, which is combined with an electric motor with 116 horsepower. The electric motor is powered by a set of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 13 kilowatt-hours. The total output of the unit reaches 245 horsepower. Interestingly, the same scheme is used in the restyled Volkswagen Passat GTE.
The hybrid SUV accelerates from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.4 seconds, and its top speed is limited to 217 kilometers per hour. On pure electric power, the car can cover a distance of up to 50 kilometers.

Inside, front sports seats with electric adjustment and memory function are installed. In addition, the new model is equipped with a modern multimedia system with a 9.2-inch touchscreen and navigation system.
The official debut of the hybrid version of the Seat Tarraco is scheduled for September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Sales of the crossover are planned for the first half of 2020.
