One of the heads of the German company shared information about the discontinuation of the model with Car and Driver magazine.
The A3 Cabriolet was not in high demand, although it was among the most affordable offerings of the brand. For example, in the US from January to July of this year, 5,650 A3 cars in various body styles, including the convertible version, were sold. This figure was 52 percent lower than in the same months of 2018.
After the A3 Cabriolet is discontinued, buyers will still have the open-top A5 modifications, as well as the TT and TTS models.
The premiere of the next-generation Audi A3 on the MQB platform is scheduled for September at the Frankfurt Motor Show — first the hatchback will be shown to the public, followed by the sedan.
