According to available information, the next Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will receive a two-liter turbocharged engine with four cylinders, which will be built on the basis of the motor from the new Renault Megane RS.
The current French hot hatch, which holds the title of the fastest front-wheel-drive car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, is powered by a 1.8-liter turbo-four producing 300 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque.
It is expected that the two-liter version for the next Lancer Evolution will use an electrically driven turbocharger operating from a 48-volt on-board network. The power of such an unit will reach 345 hp, and torque will be 433 newton-meters. It will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox, as well as an upgraded S-AWC all-wheel drive system.
