The crossover was built on a shortened version of the modular Giorgio platform, which already underpins the production Stelvio. Subsequently, this same chassis will form the basis of several new models, including the next-generation Giulietta hatchback.

As for the design, the Alfa Romeo Tonale features a number of elements that reference classic models of the Italian brand. For example, from the side, the crossover resembles the Spider Duetto and Disco Volante Spider sports cars, and the wheels are styled like the rotary dial of an old telephone — as on the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale from 1966.
Inside, there is a fully digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch diagonal, a 10.25-inch multimedia system screen, as well as a smart LED ambient lighting system.

The technical specifications of the Alfa Romeo Tonale have not yet been announced. According to preliminary information, the production version will appear closer to 2023, and its engine lineup will include a hybrid powertrain with the ability to recharge the batteries from the electrical grid.
