The new Macan will remain on the assembly line at the Leipzig plant. The first examples are expected to appear in early 2020.
The electric version of the crossover will be based on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, which was developed jointly with Audi AG. Technical parameters of the new model have not yet been disclosed.
"Electric drive and Porsche complement each other perfectly — not only in terms of efficiency, but also thanks to the sporty character. We plan to invest more than six billion euros in the development of electromobility by 2022, and by 2025, every second car we produce could have an electric powertrain," emphasized Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.
At the same time, the head of the company noted that over the next ten years, Porsche will adhere to a strategy of combining different types of powertrains — from advanced gasoline engines to plug-in hybrids and fully electric sports cars.
